Program Notes

Charlie’s Aunt is a traditional Irish jig that was first recorded by Paddy Reynolds and Charlie Mulvihill on the 1971 album “Atlantic Wave”. This Jig is an upbeat and exciting folk dance in 6/8 time that is written in D Dorian. It can be used as a useful tool to teach new music students about the musical modes. The arrangement heard here is a transcription from Cnythia MacLeod's 2010 album "Riddle"
